As of the close of the day, the price of light crude oil futures for July delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose by $3.07 to close at $74.84 per barrel, an increase of 4.28%; London Brent crude futures for August delivery rose $3.22, or 4.40 percent, to settle at $76.45 a barrel.
