According to Jinse Finance, on June 27 local time, U.S. President Trump posted on a social media platform stating that the United States has just learned that Canada has announced the imposition of a digital services tax on U.S. technology companies. Trump called it a "direct and blatant attack" on the U.S., claiming that Canada is clearly imitating the European Union. Trump stated that in light of this shocking tax, the U.S. is hereby terminating all trade negotiations with Canada, effective immediately. The U.S. will inform Canada of the tariffs that will apply to trade with the U.S. within the next seven days.
