If the French Prime Minister steps down after a confidence vote next week, Macron is reportedly looking to avoid an early election.
Jin10 data reported on September 4th that sources familiar with French President Macron's thinking revealed that if the Prime Minister steps down in the confidence motion next week, Macron will seek to avoid an early election. France has entered a political crisis since Prime Minister Borne called for a confidence vote on September 8th to break the deadlock over the budget cut plans. Borne needs to garner support from members of parliament before then, but the most powerful parties have already committed to ousting him, suggesting that Borne's departure seems inevitable. The far-right has demanded Macron's resignation (which he has ruled out) or the calling of elections. However, informed sources revealed that the option of calling elections is also not on the agenda. If Borne steps down, Macron will seek an agreement among the various parties in the National Assembly to appoint a new Prime Minister.
