Russian media: Former and current deputy energy ministers detained in Russia for fraud investigation

On October 24th, Jinshi Data learned that Russian investigators detained a current and a former deputy energy minister. According to sources, Sergei Mochalnikov, who has served as the deputy energy minister since April 2022, and Anatoly Yanovsky, who served as the deputy energy minister from 2008 to 2021, have been detained. They are accused of fraud related to the closure of coal mines. Both of them were responsible for the coal industry in the ministry. The case is reported to have caused a direct loss of 500 million rubles ($5 million) and an indirect loss of 12 billion rubles.
