"An Awkward Ride for the Socially Anxious: Accidentally Becoming the Co-Star in a Drama"

I called a cab today, and maybe because I'm used to riding in my friends' cars, I got right into the front passenger seat without thinking—only to realize it was a BMW.

A handsome young guy was driving. "Hello," he said softly, his face a bit flushed. When we stopped at a red light, he quietly told me, "You can lower the seat a bit, it'll be more comfortable."

I asked him why he was driving Didi in a BMW. He replied that business hadn't been good lately, so he'd stayed home for a few days and got a bit bored, so he decided to go out and drive for a bit. It was his first day. "I thought... maybe I could meet different kinds of people out here."

We barely talked during the ride, since I'm pretty socially anxious, and so was he. I suddenly decided to change my route and go to a friend's place instead. I asked if I could change the destination, and he turned to me with gentle eyes and said, "Of course." He paused, then added, "Wherever you want to go, I'll take you."

Suddenly the way he said it seemed a little ambiguous, and I was at a loss for words. I quietly changed the destination, and after that, we just had some small talk, mostly trying to fill the silence. The whole trip had this strange, indescribable feeling!

Unfortunately, I never got his contact info in the end—or I could've introduced him to my girlfriends, haha! But even though this city is big, maybe someday, we'll run into each other again at some street corner.
