Passkeys seem like a pretty good replacement for all those annoying passwords we have to deal with. Basically, they let you log into apps and sites using something like your fingerprint or a face scan, or even just your phones PIN. No more trying to remember complicated strings of letters and numbers.
I read that they rely on this public key cryptography thing. Your device keeps the private key safe inside it, and the website has the matching public key. So when you go to sign in, the device just shows its you without ever sending any password across
